Sailing Lessons
We offer group lessons designed to help you feel at ease and get moving on the water. Our Sunfish fleet is available for lessons and also for new sailors to check out for practice, racing or plain old fun.
*Club members receive priority registration and a discounted rate.
Women's Sailing Class
We have an active and growing group of women sailors! A women-specific sailing class is offered each season, running for three days. Space is limited, so please don't hesitate to inquire. Informal mentoring is available most Thursday evenings during racing season.

Adult Sailing Class
Both men and women are welcome in this 3 day course whose goal is for you to feel confident sailing a Sunfish independently. The class introduces anyone interested in learning to sail to concepts of sailing, terminology, on-the-water safety, and time to simply sail...sail...sail...

Windsurfing
Lake Washington is an excellent location for all levels of windsurfing. A regular group of windsurfers can be found at Lake Washington on windy days throughout the year. For newer windsurfers, our windsurfing program offers regular windsurfing classes, and the club has pre-rigged gear on site, ready to launch. Longboard windsurf racing is held Tuesday evenings as well as some weekends. Please see the LWSC calendar for an updated list of windsurfing events and classes.
Windsurfing Classes
For 2020, instead of group windsurfing classes, LWSC is offering private and semi-private windsurfing classes for individuals or small groups. For members who have completed a windsurfing class, we have windsurfing practice nights on most Tuesdays during the sailing season. A fleet of windsurfing equipment is available for members to use if they have completed a windsurfing class or have previous windsurfing experience.

Summer Junior Sailing Camps
Every summer, Lake Washington Sailing Club provides eight weeks of Junior Summer Sailing Camp and Advanced/Racer training.
Learn-to-Sail Junior Camp:
This course teaches the basic sailing technique, terminology, and theory. It is designed for young children and those who have little or no sailing experience. The morning Learn-to-Sail classes are scheduled from 9:00 to 12:00, Monday through Friday. Your child can sign up for one session or continue sailing for the whole summer!
Junior Summer Racing Program:
This program is for juniors who have two or more seasons of experience sailing and feel comfortable racing in close quarters against others. The participants work on racing skills such as tuning, starting, tactics, and advanced boat-handling. JSRP is held on Monday and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Participants in this class are also encouraged to compete in LWSC and BAYS (Bay Area Youth Sailing) regattas throughout the summer.

LWSC High School Racing Team
The Lake Washington High School Racing Team is for high school and middle-high students who want to improve their sailing skills and compete against other schools. Previous teams have been formed at Davis High School, Jesuit High School, Rio Americano High School, Christian Brothers High School, and Sacramento/Yolo area homeschooling organizations.
All the students train together and rotate boats to develop teamwork and friendships, but then group up by high school to compete in regattas. In the past, the HSRT has competed in Bay Area regattas sponsored by the Pacific Interscholastic Sailing Association at sailing clubs around San Francisco Bay. LWSC even held a regatta at the lake. Recently, HSRT began a local High School Championship Series – the Sac Cup.
Besides developing sailing and racing skills, students also grow their leadership skills. Students are encouraged to go through the process to start a sailing club at their school, recruit and train members, and hold meetings and special events in addition to the group practice at the lake. The club provides boats and materials to use as a backdrop for club days and sponsors individual school team open houses at the lake to introduce new and prospective team members to the program.

Davis Sailing Team
Davis Sailing Team is a nonprofit student-run organization at UC Davis dedicated to teaching and perfecting the art of dinghy sailing. They sail competitively in the Pacific Coast conference within the greater Inter-collegiate Sailing Association and travel up and down the west coast competing in regattas. They are an eclectic group of students brought together by the passion to learn and practice boat handling and maintenance, sailing tactics, racing rules, and camaraderie. The team practices regularly on the weekends during fall, winter, and spring quarters.
If you see them around the docks, please introduce yourself and meet the team, otherwise you can find them online at davissailingteam.com, on Facebook or email them at davissailingteam@gmail.com
